WHAT PARENTS SAY ...
Don’t take our word for it.

"I just wanted to say thanks so much for teaching A. last week - he really loved the experience and learnt a lot!"

-Tanya

"My 9-year-old daughter has been attending Das Art Department every week, and she absolutely love it. It's the perfect balance of fun and learning - .... One of the things she says she loves most about the class is Max .... Max is a joy to work with as a parent too and the Studio itself is beautiful ..."

-Carmen

"Hidden gem. I hate to spread the word, because it seems like our very own special place, but Max runs a true gem of an art school. .... since my son has gone religiously every week and always comes back energized and delighted with the time spent there. My 79 years old mother has also attended, with my sun and these intra-generational sessions are amazing. ..."

-Vannina

What it's
about?

Das Art Department is not about talent or performance.
It is about creating with your hands, staying with a process and building confidence along the way.

Drawing and painting become tools to focus, to think clearly and to reconnect with oneself – without pressure, comparison or expectations.

Start with a £ 15,- Trial for kids.
No commitment!

Try a class before you commit to anything. Just show up, create and see, if it feels right.

About me

cc930928-ad1c-40a4-8c9b-569a39a99aa7.jpg

I'm Max -  29 years old, an artist, athlete and graphic designer originally from Hamburg, Germany.

I grew up in a creative household – my father was an artist – so making things has always been part of my life. I’ve long been interested in reshaping what already exists, finding beauty in the everyday and turning thoughts into something visible and shared. Painting and music have been central to that process.

I studied business administration and fine art to combine creative independence with structure. During lockdown, I returned intensively to painting – a turning

point that connected different parts of my life: art, music, movement and teaching.

Das Art Department grew out of the wish to pass on what creative work has given me. In an increasingly digital world, I believe deeply in the value of handmade, human-made work – creating something out of nothing as a way to slow down, focus and build confidence.

Working with children and young people matters greatly to me. I respect their intelligence and their unfiltered way of seeing the world. My role is not to shape them, but to create spaces where that way of seeing can remain intact and grow.
